ESG at Peterborough

This has enabled more patients to be treated locally, rather than travelling to a hospital more than an hour from Peterborough.

The machines deliver radiation so they need to be housed in linac bunkers which are lead lined. The new unit was built via a contract variation and opened last year. The walk for patients to each of the machines was via a long white corridor which was very clinical and not an ideal environment for patients about to undergo treatment. As the SPV team on site, we agreed with our project investors that we could purchase 2 ‘hotboards’ with the other one sponsored by two of our Service Providers (Medirest and Asteral). Our hard services provider agreed to install them at no cost. We also engaged with three local primary schools to provide artwork to be displayed. The children and PFI partners were invited to the official opening last year.
