About The Project

The Canning Town Housing PFI project is one of the original eight housing PFI Pathfinder projects and comprises the refurbishment – to a Decent Homes plus standard – and maintenance and management of over 1200 local authority homes, with a value of £33 million. Initial refurbishment was completed over a two-and-a-half-year period. Housing management and maintenance services are provided over the whole 30-year concession period. The properties are a mix of low and high rise blocks, street properties and sheltered housing.

The project reached financial close on 3 June 2005 and operations commenced the following day. The refurbishment works were completed in January 2008; 5 months ahead of schedule. Residents are reporting a dramatic improvement in their area.

The project delivers for the whole of the term of the contract:

  • Refurbishment to tenanted properties – New Kitchens, Bathrooms, Windows, Doors, Central Heating systems and rewiring, new Roofs, Externals etc.
  • Housing Management, Leasehold Management, Grounds Maintenance and Caretaking.
  • Repairs and Maintenance.
  • Lifecycle and Cyclical Maintenance
