About The Project

The Hospital has approximately 480 beds, 7 operating theatres and an average of 12,500 emergency department attendances per month. In addition to the Hospital there is a mental health unit (operated by the Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust), residential accommodation for 83 clinical staff and several administrative and support buildings.

As part of HCP’s engagement we oversee delivery of the following by the Project Company’s subcontractors:

  • Maintenance service
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Waste disposal
  • Energy management
  • Portering
  • Domestic services
  • Linen & Laundry
  • Patient Catering
  • Retail Catering
  • Window Cleaning
  • Pest Control
  • Non-Patient Transport
  • Residential Management
  • Security & Car Parking
  • Telecoms & Helpdesk

HCP have successfully implemented a new online platform to ensure consistent delivery of management systems (in line with ISO 55000 objectives). The first module of this platform is an evolution of HCP’s Risk Based Monitoring, which standardises approach to high risk items (such as statutory obligations) based on input from H&S advisors and technical experts. This establishes consistency of monitoring approach and the resulting assurance to stakeholders on the operation of Service Providers, while enhancing HCP’s knowledge of the asset base and resulting monitoring activity. Feedback has been extremely positive.

The renewed Risk Based Monitoring approach undertaken by HCP provides assurance to the Trust of the compliance of its contractors and compliments the Trusts’ own monitoring regime. The RBM reports provide detailed, accurate data in relation to statutory and contractual compliance of assets and systems within the hospital, allowing the Trust to act on their findings if necessary.
