Swarcliffe Housing
Leeds
Project Value - £37m
Project Sector - Social Housing
About The Project
The estate now consists of about 4,000 homes; just under 1400 of these are council tenanted properties the majority of which were built in the 1950’s and 1960’s. A mixture of flats (366, mainly low rise 2 and 3 storey and maisonettes) and houses (1004, semi detached, terraced and bungalows) in a variety of build types: Lindsey Parkinson; traditional brick; Wimpey No fines; Wates; Livett Cartwright, Cornish etc.
Sherburn Court remains as the only high rise after demolition programmes in the 1990’s and 2000’s brought down 9 ‘problematic’ blocks.
The spaces left by the demolition have allowed private developers to popularise and regenerate the estate.
