Whiston and St Helens Hospitals ranked highest in the country

We are delighted to announce that St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Whiston and St Helens Hospitals, has been ranked as the best acute NHS Trust in England in the latest PLACE (Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment) assessments. PLACE assessments inspect and score all acute and specialist organisations throughout England.

The Trust was awarded first place after inspections at both Whiston and St Helens hospitals, achieving top marks in the country in every area of the inspection including cleanliness, food, privacy and dignity, facilities for patients living with dementia and patients with disabilities.

The condition, appearance and maintenance of the hospital buildings also ranked number one, and Whiston and St Helens is the only acute Trust in the entire country to score 100% for the standards of cleanliness at its hospitals and the standard of food served on its wards.

Ann Marr, the Trust Chief Executive stated, “This is an incredible achievement, and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you how proud the entire Trust Board is that your continuous hard work and dedication to patients has been recognised in this way. Providing the best patient environment in the country is national recognition for our hospitals and the excellent care we provide to our patients.”
